The State of Florida Has Adopted the ASME A17.3-2015 Safety Code.
The Deadline for Door Lock Monitoring is soon approaching.
What is the change and how to avoid code violation?
A17.3-2015 is a retroactive code adopted by the State Of Florida. This requires all elevators within the State of Florida to be in compliance with the above code by December 31, 2023. A Door Lock Monitoring (DLM) system monitors the position and state of the elevator doors and removes the power from the elevator in the event of a faulty or bypassed door circuit.
Why is it important to take action?
If you have elevators manufactured after 2000, they may have a DLM system that needs activation or can be connected to a Door Lock Monitoring device. Elevators manufactured prior to 2000 require upgraded equipment or full modernization. Taking too long to act may result in long lead times, violation of the State laws and increased pricing to complete the installation.
